코로나19 단계별 사회적 거리두기 시행 등으로 불필요한 외출을 자제하는 분위기 속에서도, 교통사고는 지속적으로 발생하고 있다.

20년 8월 현재 구미지역 내 교통사고 사망자를 분석해보면, 보행자 교통사고가 37%, 노인교통사고가 26%를 차지하고 있고, 그 중 노인 교통  망사고 100%가 보행 중 발생한 사고로, 노인과 보행자 교통사고의 심각성을 알 수 있다. 

노인들의 경우 상대적으로 걸음걸이가 느리고, 행동반경 등 인지 능력이 낮아 도로에 노출될 때는 교통사고의 위험성이 크다.

또한, 보행자의 경우 연중 교통사고 사망자 비율이 여름철 대비 가을철에 15% 이상 발생하는 것으로 보아 지금이 가장 위험한 시기이다.

노인 및 보행자 교통사고를 예방하기 위하여, 길을 건널 때는 반드시   횡단보도를 이용하여 건너고, 어두운 야간•새벽 시간대에는 시인성이 좋은 밝은 색 옷 착용할 것을 당부 드린다. 또한 음주 후 운전은 한잔 만  마셔도 단속 대상이 될 수 있으니, 음주운전은 절대 하지 말아야 할 범죄행위이다.

운전자들 또한 ‘차량중심’이 아닌 ‘사람중심’의 교통문화를 인식하여 ‘사람이 보이면 일단 멈춤’ 패러다임을 바탕으로 양보하는 운전습관을 가져야 한다.   

구미경찰서에서도 노인 및 보행자 교통사고 예방을 위하여 지역 교통  안전협의체를 개최하여 기관•단체 동참을 활성화 하고, 취약 시간대   신호위반, 보행자보호의무위반 등에 대하여 캠코더 단속을 실시하고 있다.

차에서 내리는 순간 우리 모두 ‘보행자’이다.  

우리 가족을 위해서 보행자와 노인이 배려 받는, ‘차량중심’이 아닌   ‘사람중심’인 교통문화가 하루 빨리 정착 되기를 기대한다.

Traffic accidents continue to occur even in the atmosphere of refraining from going out unnecessary due to the implementation of social distance-keeping in stages of Corona 19.


According to the analysis of traffic accident deaths in Gumi as of August 20, 37% of pedestrian traffic accidents and 26% of elderly traffic accidents are accidents that occurred while walking, and 100% of them are elderly traffic accidents, indicating the seriousness of elderly and pedestrian traffic accidents.



Elderly people are relatively slow to walk and have low cognitive abilities such as radius of action, so there is a high risk of traffic accidents when exposed to the road.


In addition, this is the most dangerous time for pedestrians, given that the death rate from traffic accidents during the year is more than 15 percent in autumn compared to summer.



In order to prevent elderly and pedestrian traffic accidents, it is recommended to cross the street using crosswalks and to wear bright clothes with good visibility at night and dawn. It is also a criminal act that should never be drunk, as even a single drink of driving after drinking can lead to a crackdown.



Drivers should also have a driving habit of recognizing a "people-centered" traffic culture rather than "vehicle-centered" and yielding based on the "stop once people are seen" paradigm.


Gumi Police Station also held a regional traffic safety council to promote participation of institutions and organizations in order to prevent traffic accidents involving senior citizens and pedestrians, and is cracking down on camcorders for violation of traffic signals and pedestrian protection obligations during vulnerable times.



The moment we get out of the car, we're all "walkers."


We hope that a "people-centered" traffic culture, which is not "vehicle-centered" but "people-centered," will be settled as soon as possible, which is considered for our family.
