(뉴지랜드=  KTN)  박춘태 기자= 웰링턴 인근 해역에서 지진이 발생했다. 지오넷(GeoNet)에 의하면, 지진은 지난 8월 5일(월요일) 현지 시간 밤 11시 38분에 웰링턴에서 남서쪽으로 15km 떨어진 해역이었다. 규모 4.8의 지진으로 인해 많은 사람들이 잠을 자다가 집밖으로 뛰쳐나오기도 했다.

다행히 이 지진은 비교적 깊지 않은 수심 13km에서 발생했으며, 17,000명 이상이 진동을 느꼈다고 보고했다. 하지만 진원지에서 멀리 떨어진 곳에서도 진동을 느낄 정도였다.

X(트위터)에서 한 사람은 지진 발생 시 꽤  크고 무서운 굉음이 났다고 말했다.

또 다른 사람은 컴퓨터 화면에서 떨어진 웹캠 이미지를 게시하기도 했다. 한인들의 피해 신고는 아직 없다

Earthquake strikes near New Zealand capital Wellington - magnitude 4.8

(New Zealand = KTN) Reporter Park Choon-tae = An earthquake occurred in waters near Wellington. According to GeoNet, the earthquake was in waters 15 km southwest of Wellington at 11:38 p.m. local time on Monday, Aug. 5. The 4.8-magnitude earthquake also caused many people to run out of their homes while sleeping.

Fortunately, the earthquake occurred at a relatively low depth of 13 km, and more than 17,000 people reported feeling the vibration. However, it was felt even far away from the epicenter.

One person on X (Twitter) said there was a pretty loud and scary roar during the earthquake.

Another person posted an image of a webcam that fell from a computer screen. There have been no reports of damage from Koreans yet
