고정밀 가공을 위한 셀프 센터링 인서트

(전국= KTN) 김도형 기자= 글로벌 금속 절삭 솔루션 기업 세코(Seco)가 새로운 페이스 밀링 커터 ‘옥토밀 06(Octomill 06)’을 출시하며 가공 산업의 혁신을 예고했다. 이번 신제품은 사용 편의성과 유연성, 안정성을 획기적으로 개선한 것이 특징이다. 특히, 인서트의 셀프 센터링 기능을 통해 정밀한 위치 고정이 가능하며, 다양한 작업 환경에 따라 여러 종류의 인서트를 장착할 수 있는 멀티 인서트 포켓 설계(트랜스폼 기능)를 적용했다.

옥토밀 06의 가장 큰 강점은 인서트의 셀프 센터링 기능이다. 작업자는 높은 반복 정밀도로 인서트를 빠르고 안전하게 장착할 수 있으며, 긴 인서트 스크류를 활용해 커터 본체에서 스크류를 분리하지 않고도 손쉽게 인서트를 다음 코너로 교체할 수 있다. 또한, 커터와 인서트 간 장착부 설계를 최적화하여 절삭날과 지지면을 분리함으로써 인서트의 마모를 줄이고, 사용하지 않은 절삭날의 성능 저하를 방지했다.

세코의 프로덕트 매니저 토비아스 야코비(Tobias Jakobi)는 “절삭날과 지지면을 분리함으로써 인서트의 마모된 부분이 다른 절삭날에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 방지했다.”라며, “셀프 센터링 기능은 인서트의 잘못된 고정을 예방하여 불안정성, 절삭날 및 공구 파손을 방지하고, 값비싼 작업 중단 및 재작업의 필요성을 줄이는 데 큰 도움이 된다.”라고 설명했다.

옥토밀 06은 불안정한 구조물이나 얇은 벽을 가진 응용 가공에서 최적의 성능을 발휘하도록 설계되었다. 16° 이상의 높은 나선각을 적용하여 반경 방향 및 축 방향 부하를 줄였으며, 가벼운 절삭 진입과 진출을 구현해 백커팅 효과를 감소시켰다. 이로 인해 전체 절삭날에서 균일한 마모를 유지하며, 높은 품질의 생산성을 제공한다.

다양한 응용 분야에서의 유연성 제공

옥토밀 06의 트랜스폼 기능(멀티 인서트 포켓 설계)은 페이스 밀링뿐만 아니라 원형 및 하이피드 고이송 인서트도 장착할 수 있도록 설계되었다. 이를 통해 단 하나의 커터로 페이스 밀링, 램핑, 헬리컬 보간, 프로파일링 등 다양한 작업을 효율적으로 수행할 수 있다.

또한, P, M, K, N, S 및 H 등 다양한 소재에서 최적의 성능을 발휘할 수 있도록 여러 종류의 인서트 재종과 칩브레이커를 지원하여 더욱 폭넓은 활용이 가능하다.

This new product features remarkably improved ease of use, flexibility and stability. In particular, it has applied a multi-insert pocket design (transform function) that enables precise positioning through the self-centering function of the insert and allows various types of inserts to be installed according to various working environments.

Self-centering inserts for high precision processing

The biggest strength of Octomille 06 is the self-centering function of the insert. The operator can quickly and safely mount the insert with high repetition precision, and use the long insert screw to easily replace the insert with the next corner without removing the screw from the cutter body. In addition, by optimizing the design of the mounting part between the cutter and the insert, the wear of the insert is reduced and the performance degradation of the unused cutting blade is prevented.

"By separating the cutting blade and the support surface, we prevented the worn part of the insert from negatively affecting other cutting blades," said Tobias Jakobi, Seko's product manager. "The self-centering function is very helpful in preventing incorrect fixation of the insert, preventing instability, cutting blade and tool damage, and reducing the need for expensive work interruption and rework."

Innovative Design for High-Quality Processing

Octomille 06 is designed to exhibit optimal performance in application processing with unstable structures or thin walls. A high spiral angle of 16° or more was applied to reduce the radial and axial loads, and the backcutting effect was reduced by implementing light cutting entry and advance. This maintains uniform wear throughout the entire cutting blade and provides high quality productivity.

Provides flexibility in a wide range of applications

Octomille 06's transform function (multi-insert pocket design) is designed to fit not only face milling but also circular and high-feed high-transfer inserts. This allows various tasks such as face milling, ramping, helical interpolation, and profiling to be efficiently performed with a single cutter.

In addition, various types of insert re-seeding and chipbreakers are supported so that optimal performance can be achieved in various materials such as P, M, K, N, S, and H for wider use.
