(뉴질랜드= KTN) 박춘태 기자= 뉴질랜드에서 가장 큰 도시인 오클랜드에서는 오는 7월 10일부터 7월 20일까지 11일간 ‘2024 뉴질랜드 세계합창대회’가 열린다. 이번 대회에는 전 세계 30여 개국에서 250여 개의 합창단이 참가하며 참가 인원만 해도 약 11,000명에 달한다. 뉴질랜드의 합창 문화는 지역마다 붐을 이루고 있으며, 이러한 배경에는 무엇보다도 다문화 국가에 기반한 풍부한 다양성을 반영함에 있다. 

세계합창대회는 2000년부터 독일 ‘인터컬쳐(Interkultur)’재단에서 주최해 온 것으로, 세계에서 가장 큰 규모의 합창 축제인 동시에 합창경연대회라 할 수 있다.

이번 대회에 대한민국합창단은 어린이 합창단을 비롯해 다양한 합창단이 참가해 열연한다. 

위클리코리아에 따르면, KBS 남자의 자격에서 큰 감동을 준 ‘청춘합창단’, 예술적 감수성이 풍부한 미래세대 어린이들이 선보이는‘YS예술단’, 2023년 대한민국에서 강릉에서 열린 세계합창대회에서 금상 수상 및 광복절, 3.1절 기념식 등 많은 국가행사에 초대받는 어린이 합창단 ‘위자드콰이어’, 장애인과 비장애인으로 구성된 ‘푸르나메 합창단’, 미국 아틀랜타에 위치한 명문 사립학교인 ‘Providence Christian Academy(PCA)’ 서울 분교의 국제학교 학생들로 구성된 ‘PCA Korea 합창단’이 경연에 참여한다. 

이들 합창단은 주옥 같은 명곡들을 선보일뿐만 아니라, 재외동포들에게도 익숙한 ‘오빠생각’, ‘고향의 봄’ 등 다함께 부를 수 있는 음악들도 들려줄 예정이다. 이번 행사를 위해 한국 합창단의 진행을 도울 자원봉사자를 이미 선발했으며, 한국 합창단은 오는 7월 17일 한국 전쟁 참전 용사를 직접 만나 감사의 마음도 전할 예정이다. 당일 뉴질랜드 한국전쟁 참전용사기념재단 방문을 비롯하여 타카푸나 지역에 거주하는 한국전쟁 참전용사 당시 사령관이었던 다니엘(Daniel Herlihy)씨의 자택에서 여러 참전용사들께 감사의 마음을 노래와 함께 전달한다. 아울러 PCA Korea 합창단의 청소년들은 K-Fashion 벼룩시장을 열어 수익금을 오클랜드 한인회에 기부할 예정이다.

또 오클랜드 현지 한인합창단과 함께 뉴질랜드 재외동포를 위한 작은 축제의 장도 펼쳐지는데, 오는 7월 20일에는 머레이스베이에 위치한 광림교회에서 무지개 시니어 합창단, 샬롬여성 중창단, 오클랜드 한인합창단과 함께하는 공연을 선보인다.

그 외 전통한복과 혼례복 입어보기 체험, 떡 강정 맛보기, 한지공예 작품 전시, 전통 민화 그리기 교실을 개최할 예정이다.

아울러 푸짐한 경품도 추첨 또는 선착순으로 제공하는데 한국방문을 위해 뉴질랜드 달러 3,000불 상당의 전북특별자치도 17박 18일 호텔 숙박권, 김진솔(Nina Kim)작가의 지비츠악세서리 등이 제공된다.

이번 행사에 참가하는 한 합창단원은 “뉴질랜드에서 열리는 세계합창대회에 참가해 K-합창을 알리는 뜻깊은 시간이 돼 기쁘다.”라고 하면서 “한국 전통문화 행사에서 동포들에겐 자긍심을, 현지인들에게는 K-문화에 대한 새로운 인식을 심어줄 것이며, 한국전쟁 참전용사들께 감사의 마음을 드리는 기회를 갖게 돼 흐뭇하다.”라고 하였다.

According to Weekly Korea, the "Youth Choir," which impressed KBS men greatly in their qualifications, the "YS Art Troupe," presented by future generations of children with artistic sensitivity, and the children's choir "Wizard Quire," which is invited to many national events such as the Gold Prize and Liberation Day and the March 1st Independence Day celebration at the 2023 World Choir Competition in Gangneung, South Korea, the "Purname Choir," which consists of disabled and non-disabled people, and the "Providence Christian Academy," a prestigious private school in Atlanta, U.S., and the "PCA Korea Choir," which consists of students from international schools in Seoul branch, will participate in the competition.

In addition to showcasing masterpieces like jade, the choir will also play music that can be sung together, such as "Thinking of Oppa" and "Spring of Hometown," which are familiar to overseas Koreans. Volunteers have already been selected to help the Korean choir host the event, and the Korean choir will meet with Korean War veterans in person on July 17 to express its gratitude. On the same day, he will visit the Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation in New Zealand and deliver his gratitude to various veterans at the home of Daniel Herlihy, the then commander of the Korean War veterans living in Takapuna. In addition, teenagers of the PCA Korea Choir will hold a K-Fashion flea market to donate the proceeds to the Oakland Korean Association.

In addition, a small festival for overseas Koreans in New Zealand will be held with the local Korean choir in Auckland, and on July 20, the Gwanglim Church in Murray's Bay will perform with the Rainbow Senior Choir, the Shalom Women's Choir, and the Oakland Korean Choir.

In addition, it will hold traditional hanbok and wedding clothes experience, tasting rice cakes, exhibiting Korean paper crafts, and traditional folk painting classes.

A choir member participating in the event said, "I'm happy to participate in the World Choir Competition in New Zealand and announce the K-chorus," adding, "I'm happy to have the opportunity to give pride to my compatriots, a new awareness of K-culture to locals, and thank Korean War veterans."
