Korea-Ukra Reconstruction Cooperation in earnest... Smart Transportation Infrastructure Expansion Expectations
[Korea Distribution Newspaper = Reporter Kim Do-hyung] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Park Sang-woo) and the Korea Overseas Infrastructure Urban Development Support Corporation (KIND, President Kim Bok-hwan) successfully held a final briefing session on the 'Kiyu Transport Master Plan' project in Kyiv, Ukraine on April 3 (Thursday).
This report is a representative result of leading projects to rebuild space in the Ukrainian metropolitan area and establish a smart transportation system after the war, drawing attention as a result of cooperation between the governments of both Korea and Ukraine, public institutions, and private companies.
KIND officially explained to the Ukrainian government a master plan centered on spatial development and reconstruction plans in ▸, strategies to improve and expand ▸ transportation infrastructure, and ways to build ▸ smart mobility at the briefing session.
This master plan includes the following strategies:
Direction of Reconstruction: Establishment of Short-Term, Mid-Term, and Long-Term Plans
Forecasting Transportation Demand and Expanding Infrastructure: Focusing on Public Transport, Parking, Operation, and Safety
EU-wide transport network linkage: smart mobility in accordance with European standards
Marina Denysiuk, deputy minister of Ukraine's Community Territorial Development Department, expressed her gratitude, saying, "This master plan is a great achievement that laid out the key direction for the reconstruction of transportation in Kyiv. We look forward to the two countries carrying out more diverse joint projects."
Expectations to expand reconstruction projects in the future
Nam Young-woo, head of the construction policy bureau at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "The foundation for building smart and low-carbon transportation infrastructure has been laid. We will actively support the participation of Korean companies at the government level."
KIND President Kim Bok-hwan also said, "We will expand opportunities to participate in large-scale infrastructure reconstruction projects in the future through continuous network and investment discovery between Korea and Ukraine."
In addition to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the KIND, major Korean institutions, private companies, and government officials and companies from Ukraine's Kyiv Province attended the final report to discuss various follow-up discussions to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
