At the "Outsourcing in Clinical Trials West Coast 2025" conference held in Burlingame, California, the U.S., Global Data, a market researcher, made a shocking announcement. China has overtaken the U.S. as the No. 1 clinical trial in the world.

What's more surprising is the process. Most of China's clinical trials are conducted within the country. They conduct research on their own, build their own databases, and lead the development of new drugs on their own. One of the biggest problems of global clinical trials is cost. Research is complicated, it takes time to recruit participants, and the dropout rate is high. However, China has solved this with a sophisticated system and strong government policy support.

The U.S. is trying to check China's rise with the new legislation. The Biosecurity Law is a case in point. If passed, American companies will not be able to easily import Chinese-made drugs.
