The delusion of a leader who once became famous for his remarks that he was not loyal to people became a spark. A word thrown from a mere detention center became the oil of the mob, and the court was finally raided. It was an unprecedented case in the constitutional history of the Republic of Korea. The law was trampled and justice was shaken. It was not just a riot. It was a dangerous precursor that could make the Republic of Korea a killing field.

In the past, the Khmer Rouge regime led by Pol Pot in Cambodia purged intellectuals and turned Cambodia into a bloody hell. It was the result of the depth of human cruelty and extreme ideology. The moment law and order are denied, human barbarity turns into uncontrollable madness. Advocates of the December 3 incident are the other seeds of madness that will drive this country into the killing field. In the name of revolution, they justify violence, instigate confusion, and promote division.

But the Republic of Korea is not Cambodia. Not yet. We still have time to regain our reason. The lessons of history are always clear. Crumbling is a moment, but rebuilding is a difficult process. What we should remember is that the moment the law falls, the country collapses together.

Now, the time for choice is approaching. Where will South Korea be headed?

한때 사람에게 충성하지 않는다는 발언으로 유명세를 탄 지도자의 망상이 불씨가 되었다. 한낱 구치소에서 던진 말 한 마디가 폭도들의 기름이 되었고, 마침내 법원이 습격당했다. 대한민국 헌정 사상 초유의 사건이었다. 법이 짓밟히고, 정의가 흔들렸다. 그것은 단순한 폭동이 아니었다. 그것은 대한민국을 킬링필드로 만들 수 있었던 위험한 전조였다.

과거 캄보디어의 폴 포트가 이끈 크메르 루주 정권은 지식인을 숙청하며 캄보디아를 핏빛 지옥으로 만들었다. 인간의 잔인함의 깊이와 극단적인 이데올로기가 가져온 결과였다. 법과 질서를 부정하는 순간, 인간의 야만성은 통제할 수 없는 광기로 변한다. 12.3사태를 옹호하는 자들이야말로 이 나라를 킬링필드로 몰아넣을 또 다른 광기의 씨앗이다. 이들은 혁명이라는 미명 아래 폭력을 정당화하고, 혼란을 부추기며, 분열을 조장한다.

그러나 대한민국은 캄보디아가 아니다. 아직은 아니다. 우리에게는 이성을 되찾을 시간이 남아 있다. 역사의 교훈은 언제나 분명하다. 무너지는 것은 한순간이지만, 다시 세우는 것은 지난한 과정이다. 우리가 기억해야 할 것은, 법이 무너지는 순간 나라가 함께 무너진다는 사실이다.

이제 선택의 시간이 다가오고 있다. 대한민국은 과연 어디로 향할 것인가?
